Design Gateway: System-level Multi-board design
Today’s complex electronic products require several PCBs to work together in a single system. As part of a complete multi-board design flow that starts with System Planner and extends through PCB layout and manufacturing, Design Gateway forms a crucial link between initial design planning and PCB layout.
The design methodology of Design Gateway enables the simultaneous creation and optimization of multiple PCBs, including inter-board connectivity. The complete system is represented as a hierarchical structure with unlimited levels, supporting both top-down design entry and building of blocks bottom-up. Overall system configuration is represented by tree view, enabling continuous status overview and smooth transition between design levels, including external connectors. Design Gateway can drive a system-level netlist for multi-board design into Design Force or work with multiple Board Designer designs.

Ease of use
Design Gateway offers intuitive, operation of object-oriented right-click operations and assisting wizards. All operations can be configured, operating through icon trays, shortcuts, stroke commands, or scripts.
Multiple sheets or layers can be edited simultaneously, and by multiple designers, facilitating efficient operation in large designs through high performance network operation.
Seamless integration of Design Gateway with PCB layout enables bi-directional cross-probing of nets and pins with layout and verification tools.
Unified circuit visualization and checking
The built-in E-Net Browser offers real-time visualization of complete system connectivity. The Excel-style spreadsheet of Component Browser offers visualization of component and their attributes, reflecting real-time updates of the component database. The checking of electrical design rules (ERC) in real-time, batch checks, and report generation are provided by Circuit Adviser.
Design variants
Design Gateway includes management of multiple destination (design variant) information in one schematic, and offers a variant matrix browser for easy visualization.
Documentation
Documentation is crucial when drawings must be shared and reviewed by multiple designers. Design Gateway includes built-in PDF document output with a single click.
