Design Data Version & Revision Management

Design Data Version & Revision Management

Zuken’s Design Data Version and Revision Management solution provides you with the explicit definition and tracking of all individual versions of design data together with the controlled progression of changes through all individual levels of data and its entire lifecycle. For people responsible for design data , this ensures  relevant versions and revisions are consistently highlighted and then distributed to all consuming end-users that require design data information, even if the consuming designers are located across many locations/sites. This version and revision control also guarantees that only valid changes are distributed from the correct design data source element to the consuming end-user who requires it, preventing invalid or incomplete changes from being deployed.

Benefits:

  • Significantly reduces effort required to manage design data in "Work In Progress" (WIP) situations by providing specific automation, powerful reporting and auditing functionality.
  • Eliminates system errors attributable to poor version and release management of any design data across the entire development environment and notifies end-users of the latest information, irrespective of source and executable location.
  • Provides a mechanism to ensure the integrity of design data versions (even those created from external partners) that make up a version and revision procedure, through object level version control and an integrated change management facility.
  • Zuken’s open architecture enables integration with existing document version and revision management tools and other products within IT architectures.

E³.Revision Management

E³.Revision ManagementThis optional add-on module for all E³.series applications enables you to compare and document changes between projects, providing reports and tracking for traceability and comparability in the design of wiring, harness, cable assembly, control panel, and cabinet design. In addition to improving the efficiency of change processes, it also enables users to verify compliance with industry standards.

E³.Revision Management compares two versions of a project, usually the current version to a previous version, or the current version to a marked-up version. The analysis and change results are clearly identified for the user, with modifications highlighted through changed colors, a change table, balloon markers, and a spreadsheet showing detailed changes including non-graphical attributes in the design. This enables users to track variations with previous designs and analyze changes suggested by reviewers of the design, making it much easier to apply the resulting ECO’s (Engineering Change Orders) for production and manufacturing of end products including machines, trains, airplanes, special vehicles and automobiles.

E³.Revision Management is integrated with E³.e-PLM and SAP R/3, and can also be customized to integrate with other data management solutions. This allows you to launch E³.Revision Management through your PLM solution, enable the recognition of changes made between two versions of a project stored in the PLM environment, and use E³.series to display those modifications. Once complete, the revision analysis can be stored as part of the project history.

As each organization’s design environment is different so are their needs to document a change. E³.Revision Management provides the ability to configure the classifications of a change and the methods in which these changes are reported to provide the maximum amount of flexibility to the user.
