It All Dates Back to College
Back in 2004, I started in wire harness design as a college intern. From there, I worked as an engineer and an account manager in the wire harness industry for about 15 years. During that time, I became familiar with using EDA software to design and develop harness assemblies. The EDA tools were my favorite part of the job, so moving to Zuken was a natural fit for me. I’m pleased I joined Zuken. I enjoy using the products the company creates, which makes representing them incredibly easy. Everyone has been very welcoming, and it truly feels like we are one big, close-knit family.
My Role as an Application Engineer
As a Presales and Implementation Application Engineer, I get customers excited about using the E3.series electrical engineering tool suite and then help them get set up correctly to implement the products in their environment. Along the way, customers may want to customize aspects of their E3.series experience. It’s my job to understand their needs and find solutions that help make them more productive.
My role is measured in customer success. It’s my job to fully understand a customer’s design process and identify areas where Zuken products can alleviate roadblocks and increase efficiency and output. Making our customers’ jobs easier is the ultimate goal.
Each Day is Different
Each day is different working at Zuken, which I enjoy because the days go by pretty fast. Sometimes my days are filled with preparing and delivering demonstrations to potential customers. On other days, I’ll be setting up a new customer with an install or learning about their current design pain points and offering solutions. If I have time left over in the week, I like to dive into our tools further to find new tips or tricks I can share with others.
The Zuken Team
My Zuken team is awesome. We get along great, and everyone is always willing to help each other when one of us is caught in a jam. Even though we are spread out across the country, it never feels like we are strangers. My team and I usually work on projects independently. Still, if the project scope becomes too large for one person, it’s a seamless transition to bring in additional help.
Baseball, Football, Golf, and More!
When I’m not working, I enjoy playing golf. Living in Michigan is great (most of the time) because we have amazing golf courses. I also coach my son’s baseball team, which is both rewarding and time-intensive. Those two activities sum up my warm weather months. In the winter, I wait around for the weather to warm up again so I can continue doing the activities I love. When I’m not playing sports, I enjoy watching them too. I’m into football, particularly the Detroit Lions, soccer, and racing. Also, I probably still play more video games than most people my age…I guess that’s still just the kid in me.
