Zuken wins Toyota IT Award for Excellence

Trophy – Toyota IT Award for Excellence

23 May 2013 – Munich, Germany and Westford, MA, USA – Zuken has received an Award for Excellence in the Fiscal 2012 IT Category, sponsored by Toyota Motor, in the Information Systems Field. Each year Toyota honors one of its IT business partners that has contributed to its successes in manufacturing. Zuken was selected as this year’s recipient thanks to substantial improvements in its vehicle wiring design support system, which Toyota cited as enhancing its vehicle development efficiency and helping to reduce fixed costs.

Zuken began working with Toyota in 2002 to improve its design efficiency in the areas of electrical unit and wire harness design. Since then we have assisted Toyota with a range of design enhancement solutions, and in recent years we have applied our expertise in electromechanical co-design and wiring design to provide system support. These systems have been broadly deployed throughout Toyota, as well as among its affiliates and business partners in Japan and overseas.

As hybrid and electric vehicles become more popular, designers will need to find ways to optimize electrical circuit and harness design to achieve vital outcomes, such as ensuring safety and improving drivability. Zuken therefore expects to play an even greater role in Toyota’s vehicle development in the future and will continue to partner with Toyota. Zuken will continue to enhance its automotive solutions building on the valuable experience gained from working with Toyota.

How to create customised circuit diagrams

In the light of recent digitisation initiatives, circuit documentation has also come up for discussion. Specifically, the question arose as to whether or not a separation between circuit definition and visualization would make sense. In other words: wouldn't it be a great idea to store electrical data as a digital model, and to display it in a way that is suitable for each target group?

Simplify MCAD Integration with E3.3DTransformer

The mechanical model often drives the electrical design for placement and wire routing. There are multiple M-CAD tools used to author the 3D designs like Dassault Systemes CATIA/SolidWorks, Siemens NX, Creo, Inventor, etc. An important part of a successful electrical design process is the collaboration between electrical and mechanical design principles. Zuken’s E3.series tools have enabled this collaboration with much success.
