Context menu: Project Window (selected sheet)

A double-click on the sheet will open the sheet. If it is already open, it will be brought to the top.

The commands displayed in the context menu depend on the structure defined.

 

This chapter lists only those commands displayed in the default structure.

 

To change the structure select:

 

New Sheet...

A new sheet can be inserted.

 

Sheet name and format can be defined. The new sheet will be displayed in an active window in the Viewing Area.

 

When a formboard sheet is inserted, this sheet's icon in the Sheet tree view displays a capital F.

 

If a new panel sheet is inserted, scale factor and offset for the panel field in the sheet can also be defined.

 

New Document...

A new object is inserted to include information from other Windows-based applications into an E3.series project without having to convert them to an E3.series format.

 

Insert File

The Insert File dialog appears to embed any files (e.g. PDF files, text files, etc.) as external documents.

Purge Unused Objects

This command automatically removes unused objects form the project.

 

Found objects are listed in the Output window.

 

This command is only active when selecting the project name.

Open

If the selected sheet isn't open, it will be displayed in a window in the Viewing Area.

 

To open a sheet, click the checkbox so it displays a checkmark.

 

Open in 3D (Sheet)

Opens the selected panel sheet in 3D view.

 

Open in 3D (World)

Displays the contents of all panels sheets in 3D.

 

Open as Projection on 2D Sheet

Creates an orthographic 2D projection of the selected panel sheet.

 

Models are represented as solids in the projection.

 

Close

If the selected sheet is open, it will be closed.

 

To close the sheet, click the checkbox to remove the checkmark.

 

Export Drawing

A complete drawing, selected objects or a range of pages can be exported in ASCII format (design file - extension .e3p).

Export DWG/DXF...

The selected sheet can be exported in DXF format.

Export PDF...

This option is only available, if the appropriate license is present.

 

A complete drawing, selected objects or a range of sheets can be exported in PDF format.

Export as Image...

A complete drawing, selected objects or a range of sheets can be exported as image in *.tif , *.tiff , *.gif , *.jpg , *.jpeg, *.bmp or *.png format.

Save Document...

This option is active for external documents only.

 

The Windows 'Save As' dialog appears and you can select the location where you want to save the file, the name for the file and the type of file to save as.

Print...

Select this command on an individual sheet name to print this sheet only. Activation of the command on a folder name prints all sheets below that level.

Cut (Ctrl+X)

The selected sheet is cut and sent to the Windows clipboard.

Cut External

The selected sheet is cut ad can be pasted into another E3. application instance.

 

To paste the copied/cut elements from another application instance, the destination application instance only offers the Paste Extended command.

Copy (Ctrl+C)

The selected sheet is copied to the Windows clipboard.

Paste (Ctrl+V)

The previously cut/copied sheet is pasted at the cursor position.

Paste Extended

The previously cut/copied sheet is pasted to the clipboard. Its device designation, higher level assignment and location can be edited.

Delete (Canc)

A query is displayed asking whether to delete the selected sheet.

 

'Yes' deletes the selected sheet.

 

'No' aborts the command without deleting the selected sheet.

 

The Don't show this message again. message can be activated independently from the answer. After activating this option, the dialog is no longer displayed and sheets are deleted without being queried.

Lock Objects

Locks the selected sheet and thus all objects placed on the sheet against any modification.

 

Locked sheets are marked by the background being grayed out.

Unlock Objects

The locked sheet is unlocked.

If a password is defined, this is required for unlocking.

Lock Structure

The project structure is locked against unintended changes.

Unlock Structure

The project structure is unlocked.

 

Auto Routing -> by Conductor / Wire

Using this command automatically generates connection lines for all same conductors / wires.

 

Auto Routing -> by Signal

Using this command automatically generates connection lines for all same signals.

 

Open

The selected sheet is opened, i.e. it will then be in access (online) and can be edited.

 

Open read-only

The selected sheet is opened as read-only and can be opened for any number of users.

 

Open Read-Only Referenced Sheets

With this command all sheets are opened read-only which are referenced using the cross-reference of the current sheet or of selected sheets in the Project Tree.

 

Close

The selected sheet is closed.

Rename (F2)

The sheet name can be changed.

 

Highlight

This command can be selected on the desired folder to highlight all of this folder's elements.

 

The Highlight dialog appears to define the highlight color and width.

 

Reset Highlight

All of the previously highlighted objects of this folder are no longer highlighted.

Jump (Double-click)

This command is only available, when a single sheet is selected.

The selected sheet is opened.

 

Renumber...

The selected sheet names can be renumbered.

 

Project Properties...

The Project Properties menu will be displayed and the properties can be changed.

 

Sheet Properties...

The Sheet Properties menu will be displayed and the properties can be changed for the selected sheet.

 

If the command is activated on a folder name, the properties of all sheets below that level will be changed.

 

Device Table...

Opens the Device Table displaying the selected objects, i.e. defines a filter in the Device Table for preselected devices.

 

Tree Control Properties...

The Tree Control Properties menu will be displayed and the properties can be changed.

Merge all non-colliding

 

Hinweis

This command is only displayed in the Clipboard structure tree!

 

All elements (sheets, devices, fields, ...) that do not collide with those contained in the project, are transferred to the project.

Merge by generating new names

 

Hinweis

This command is only displayed in the Clipboard structure tree!

 

When merging, the system generates new names for devices and sheets.

Delete Clipboard

 

Hinweis

This command is only displayed in the Clipboard structure tree!

 

Deletes the clipboard and the clipboard structure tree.
