Export external documents

Note

  • This check box can only be activated if the check box Export PDF/A standard is deactivated.

  • If at least one external document is selected in the Sheet Tree, the check box Export external documents is activated automatically.

If activated, external documents can be integrated when exporting PDF files. For the export process to function properly the external documents must be embedded using a current E3 version.

A small red square in the icon is used to identify documents that have been embedded using an older E3 version:

Exporting such documents aborts and an error message appears.

All embedded documents with an older E3 version are listed in the Messages Window.

These documents are automatically embedded when opening in E3.

Do not show in PDF sheet tree

When this option is checked, external documents are not shown as sheet or chapter in the PDF file.

The external documents can still be opened via links within the project. However, it may happen that these links are not visibly highlighted, when moving the cursor over the link text.

Export 3D

Note

To display objects correctly in PDF, the user requires a PDF program that can display 3D models.

Objects that are available as 3D models in E3.series can also be displayed in PDF as three-dimensional objects.

These objects can be rotated in PDF and viewed from all sides. For example, this allows complex structures to be better illustrated.
