Electrical System Design Webinars

In a typical scenario, electrical and mechanical engineering departments have a tendency to work independently, communicating in a limited and often uncoordinated fashion, which can lead to costly, time-consuming errors. In the aerospace industry, minimizing these types of errors is critical to the design and manufacture of an effective product from the onset; one that can be efficiently manufactured and easily replicated where required. The ideal design process involves full collaboration between the electrical and mechanical departments. With multi-disciplined collaboration, the earliest revisions of a design will reflect the logical world of the electrical engineer, while taking into account the realistic three-dimensional world of the mechanical engineer. This approach maximizes design accuracy and quality, minimizes overall design cycle time, and results in reduced design development costs.

  • How concurrent engineering reduces design development time and reduces errors
  • How cables and harnesses can be designed correctly from the outset

Webinar Presenter

Geoff Lydon, Zuken

Geoff LydonAn Electrical Engineer by training, Geoff Lydon has been involved in CAD since 1984. His initial exposure was in the selection process, which at the time included such systems as Computervision, Intergraph and Autotrol. From there he moved into systems management. In 1995 he returned to his electrical engineering roots and began working with CIM-Team, working with their DDS-C product, a schematic design tool. With the introduction of E³.series in 2000, he helped establish CIM-Team’s US operations and was President of CIM-Team USA until its acquisition by Zuken in 2006. He now focuses on schematic and cabling design solutions for Zuken’s quickly expanding customer base.
