June 7, 9:00 AM – All Levels

Abstract:

Digitalization is hard. If it were easy, everyone would have done it already.

This presentation will focus on the Siemens team’s latest digital success story in which E3.series played a central role and how the development of Panel Builder for E3.series was critical.

The initial problem was implementing a digital thread to improve floor wiring practices. The journey included standardization of electrical designs, processes (engineering and manufacturing), and ongoing automation of various tasks by utilizing the digital thread they created. The journey is different for everyone, but the structures that make the Siemens team successful are often the same.

Instructor: Matt Annen, Siemens

Matt Annen has been a solution architect internal to Siemens Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products business for over ten years. Along with Siemens Engineering Systems department, the Smart Infrastructure Electrical Products business has been doing Digitalization focused projects in the Engineering and Manufacturing realm since before it was cool.

More About Siemens:

Smart infrastructure supports the way we all want to live – happily, comfortably, sustainably, and in harmony. It supports the way industry and organizations want to be – efficient, responsible, and smarter.”

June 7, 11:00 AM – All Levels

Abstract:

Automation of the manufacturing process has never been more important, yet some design processes lack the fidelity to drive automated manufacturing solutions. Although important, design for manufacturing alone is not enough to take advantage of the digitalization of the manufacturing process. A robust automated manufacturing process requires capturing the right data early while also ensuring accuracy throughout the design cycle.

In this class, you will learn to intelligently capture engineering data and utilize it in various stages of the manufacturing process. The class will also explore utilizing the data to drive the digital transformation of design, manufacturing, and assembly.

Instructor: Sanu Warrier, nVent

Sanu Warrier is Product Director for nVent, leading the global deployment of electrical design solutions. As part of the design to manufacturing platform, his work focuses on empowering customers eliminate inefficiencies, improve design processes, and reduce costs to improve competitive advantages. June 7, 12:45 PM – Beginner

Abstract:

Digital engineering, digital transformation, digital thread. Everyone agrees that utilizing the power of IT will help evolve not only our engineering process but the entire product lifecycle. However, most of us, if not all, also agree that it is a long journey to harvest all the fruits of this digital endeavor. We are starting to see the benefits here and there, but it will take a while to grasp everything in our hands. Zuken’s E3.ConnectivityBrowser can expedite the value of digital information provided by E3.series. Utilizing the E3.ConnectivityBrowser, you can identify potential issues and ensure the design functions as intended in a pre-process design review. You can also help technicians or engineers diagnose and troubleshoot problems that arise during production on the shop floor. Another benefit is to provide after-sales technicians the ability to view the data on a computer or mobile device and expand the scope of the visualization on demand to help them pinpoint the source of the problem more quickly and accurately. In this class, we will explore the E3.ConnectivityBrowser and the benefits of using this tool.

Instructor: Codie Cobb, Zuken USA

Codie Cobb is a program manager, supporting E3.series products and helping customers eliminate waste and improve their design processes. His work focuses on assisting customers in defining solutions to overcome challenges and implement solutions. His true passion lies in spending time with his family and traveling the world to play Pokémon competitively.

Instructors & Classes

June 8, 9:00 AM – Beginner

Abstract:

E3.panel and Panel Builder for E3.series provide a connected solution between cabinet design, manufacturing, assembly, and service. Engineers can produce cabinet layouts in 3D and 2D spaces and then use this layout to route wires within the project. Panel Builder for E3.series will use this data to display the routing of each wire so that manufacturing can track their progress while assembling the cabinets.

In this class, we will discuss how to build basic panel-specific components that E3.panel and Panel Builder can utilize for E3.series to drive the manufacturing process efficiently.

Instructor: Mike Majewski, Zuken USA

Mike Majewski is an E3.series application engineer. Mike’s responsibilities include providing support, providing customer concierge services, and creating new Zuken USA Community content. In Mike’s free time, he enjoys walks in the wood with his dog and golfing in the summer.

June 8, 10:00 AM – All Levels

Abstract:

Engineering data management (EDM) requires organizing, storing, and maintaining design data throughout the product development cycle. There are several reasons why design data management is critical for the success of a product development project. A few benefits to highlight are that it helps to ensure that all design data is accurate, up-to-date, and consistent, which is essential for making informed design decisions. Additionally, EDM makes it easier to determine a workflow and provide access and share design data among different stakeholders, such as designers, engineers, and project managers, thereby improving collaboration and communication. Finally, design data management enables organizations to keep track of changes made to the design data over time and provides a historical record of the design process. This information can improve the design process and make it more efficient. In this class, you will gain an understanding of how Applied Materials uses Zuken’s engineering data management tool, DS-E3. DS-E3 offers the capabilities for a very effective and easy digital way of managing design data of Zuken E3.series projects. Covering the following areas:

  1. Revision Control
    1. Save and archive engineering design drawings with their revision history, accessible for retrieval as required
    2. Ability to lock the design revision in the E3.series multi-user projects
      when the drawing is released
  2. Release Workflow
    1. Workflow to enable peer review or Design Engineering
      Authority(DEA) approval
  3. Integration with PLM

Instructor: Senthil Velu Nachimuthu, Applied Materials

Senthil is an Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduate with 13+ years of overall working experience. For the last 5+ years, Senthil has worked at Applied Materials in IT Application Solution Management for E3.series products. Senthil loves being an application engineer for E3.series. He enjoys supporting the engineering community by solving challenging problems and striving to get good-quality outcomes in everything he does.
