Component Wizard - Wire Group

The first step of the Component Wizard, the Identification dialog and the second step, the >Properties dialog have already been modified.

The third step (when creating a Wire Group) is to define the structure of the new component in the Wire dialog.

Component Wizard - Wire

Component name

Displays the new component name defined in the Identification dialog.

Version

Displays the new component version defined in the Identification dialog.

Name

The wire names are defined in this field.

To select a translatable conductor name, select the desired conductor name, press F2 and call the Translation Table dialog using the button.

In case of several languages, the 1st language defined for display is always used. During input of a translatable text, the 1st language is likewise used for validation of the name.

The following characters are not allowed:

  • ; < > { } ' "

  • blanks

If the new wire group is based on an already existing one (activating the New command on an already existing wire group in the Database Window's Component tab), the Name column lists all wires contained in the existing wire group.

These wires can be modified.

Cross-section

The cross-section of the individual wire(s) can be selected from the drop-down list.

If the new wire group is based on an already existing one (activating the New command on an already existing wire group in the Database Window's Component tab), the Cross-section column lists the cross-sections defined for the wires of the existing wire group.

These cross-sections can be modified.

Outer diameter

For a wire the outer diameter's size can be defined which enables a more precise calculation of the cable duct's filling degree.

The outer diameter is calculated as follows:

  • Wire outer diameter = (1 + wire insulation factor) * cross-section

  • Fluid outer diameter = diameter

When no diameter is defined in the database, the cross-section (with wire insulation factor) is used.

The outer diameter is also used when calculating the filling degree of cable ducts, when displaying connection in 3D panel, when exporting in STEP format and with the COM methods netseg.GetOuterDiameter and job.GetOuterDiameter.

Color

The color of the individual wire(s) can be selected from a drop-down list which contains all colors defined in the Database Editor's Wire Colors and Hose/Tube Materials dialog box.

If the new wire group is based on an already existing one (activating the New command on an already existing wire group in the Database Window's Component tab), the Color column displays the colors defined for the wires of the existing wire group.

These colors can be modified.

Add Wire/Remove Wire

Using these two commands displayed in the context menu new wires can be added and existing ones can be removed.

The next step of creating a new wire group is also the last step. Creation of a new wire group can be completed in the Component Wizard's Complete dialog.
