Search for an Object
The Search dialog provides a way to easily and quickly find text, devices, symbols or signals in the project. The Search dialog can be opened
-
by selecting Edit -> Search... on the Main Menu bar or
-
by pressing the hotkey F3 or
-
by selecting the Search button
on the Schematic Toolbar.
Wildcard characters '*' (to replace any number of characters) and '?' (to replace a single character) can be used to help define the search.
If no search string (value) is specified, then all objects corresponding to the selected type are listed in the Output Window under the Results tab, which is automatically activated. You can jump directly to any of the symbols listed by double-clicking on the symbol in the list.
Also, if the Highlight option has been checked, the objects found, as a result of the search, will also be highlighted according to the parameters set in the Highlight Options section of the Search dialog.
To highlight all symbols of a component / connector or a device without component code, select the desired component and
-
select the Highlight all symbols command from the context menu in the schematic, or
-
select the Highlight all symbols command from the context menu on the selected object in the Project tree, or
-
select the Highlight command from the View Main Menu bar.
Afterwards, all symbols that belong to the selected object are highlighted in the drawing. All found objects are reported in the Results tab of the Output Window which is automatically brought to the top.
Double-clicking on a line will jump to the respective object in the drawing.

To reset the highlight, press Shift F3 or click the button, or select the Edit->Reset Highlight command on the Main Menu bar.

Jump to Placed Objects
The Jump functionality from within the Tree Views of the Project Window provides a way to easily and quickly go to objects that are already placed in the drawing.
It can be activated by
-
double-clicking on the object in one of the Tree Views of the Project window or
-
right-clicking the desired object to display the context menu and selecting
-
Jump to Schematic
(available for all objects that are placed in the schematic)
-
Jump to Panel
(available for all objects that are placed in the panel)
-
Jump to Terminal Plan
(available for all objects that are placed in the terminal plan)
-
These commands are also offered in the context menus of objects placed on sheets. By right-clicking on a placed symbol and selecting the desired Jump command it is thus possible to navigate between the individual sheets, e.g. from the schematic sheet to the panel sheet.
The following placed objects can be accessed by means of the Jump functionality from the Tree View:
-
symbols of normal components
-
symbols for pins or pin groups of connectors
-
all unassigned symbols, found in the Unassigned Tree of the Device Tree View
-
as well as devices, such as wires, terminal strips, (split) blocks...
Since blocks can be split to more than one sheet, the Jump command always jumps to the original block.
The sheet containing the selected symbol will automatically be opened or, if it is already open, be brought to the top. The area of the drawing displayed is adjusted to provide a clear overview of the selected object, and the object is also indicated by a highlighted rectangle.
To remove the highlight(s) select Edit->Reset Highlight... on the Main Menu Bar.
Search and Replace Text and Attribute Values
To search and replace texts and attributes, select the command Replace... from the main menu Edit .
The dialog Search and Replace allows to search for text type and attribute values.
The results' value(s) can then be replaced by any other value.

It is activated by right-clicking on the desired Cross-Reference Text and selecting
-
Jump to Schematic
to jump to the cross-reference object in the schematic, if placed there.
-
Jump to Panel
to jump to the corresponding object in the panel, if placed there.

Jump to Tree
to jump to the corresponding sheet in the Sheet tree view, when activated on a drawing sheet;
jumps to the corresponding objects in the Device tree view, when activated on a placed wire/conductor. -
Jump to Device Tree
to jump to the corresponding object in the Device tree (available for terminal reference texts)
-
Jump to Panel Tree
to jump to the corresponding object in the Panel tree (available for terminal reference texts)
-
Jump to Terminal Plan
to jump to the corresponding terminal on the terminal plan sheet
This Jump functionality can be used with the following Cross-Reference Text:
-
Master/Slave symbols
-
Reference text from within the terminal diagram. A jump is made to the placed terminal
-
Any text, including graphic text, that conforms to the set referencing format
Note
'Reference format': When a slash character / is inserted previous to the sheet name, the Jump to-command is set callable for the text in the context menu. The jump occurs on the first sheet with the given name. If there is no given sheet name no jump will occur.
Any prefix can be set previous to the name (character string previous to slash). This prefix won't be evaluated. When the reference texts have more than 32 characters no jump labels will be generated.
The sheet name must be clear in the project to enable jumps over a text.
