Edit Parameters for Twisted Wires

Parameters for twisted wires can only be edited in Database Editor mode.

 

In E3.series the length of a twisted wire from pin to pin is known. It's also possible to calculate the cutting length of the wire. To define twisted wires in the database or in the project, specific parameters must first be assigned and defined in the database.

 

To display or modify parameters for twisted wires

• start Database Editor and select the Format -> Twisted Wire Parameters... from the Main menu bar.

Edit Parameters for Twisted Wires
Cross-Section	The selection list contains all defined values of the type 'Cross-section' in the Wire Cross-Sections and Hose/Tube Diameters dialog.
Outer Diameter	The unit of measurement for the cross-section determines the unit used for the outer diameter (mm or inch).
Unit	Displays the measurement unit used for the outer diameter (mm or inch).   Note The displayed measurement unit is defined in the Unit column of Database Editor's Edit Wire Cross-sections and Hose/Tube Diameters dialog box.
Number of Twisted Wires	Defines the number of wires to be twisted.
Number of Windings / m	Defines the number of windings per meter [dm, inch ] in the bundle. The number of windings is defined for the bundle symbol in the database or using the attribute Number of windings per meter for conductors (.NUMBER_OF_WINDINGS_FOR_CORES) in project mode.
Length Multiplication Factor	The value defined here is used for calculating the manufacturing length (manufacturing length = length factor * wire length).

 

Display on the Symbol

The following attributes are available for displaying the manufacturing length and the number of windings:

• Conductor manufacturing length (.CORE_MANUFACTURING_LENGTH)
  

  This attribute is assigned the text type '#1115 - Conductor manufacturing length'. This text type can be assigned to attribute text template symbols.

• Number of windings per meter for conductors (.NUMBER_OF_WINDINGS_FOR_CORES)
  

  This attribute is assigned the text type '#1116 - Number of windings per meter for conductors'. This text type can be assigned to twisted wires.

 

These text types must be added to the symbol in the database so that the number of windings and the manufacturing length are displayed later in the project. In the project these attributes are filled in by the system with the appropriate data (i.e. wire cross-section, outer diameters of conductors and the number of wires to be twisted) and adapted if necessary when modifying.

 

This means that the entries for the cross-section, outer diameter and number of wires must exist in the Edit Parameters for Twisted Wires dialog.
