Online update of Master/Slave
Text associated with the Master PLC component symbol and the Slave I/O symbols, e.g. PLC Physical Address, PLC Symbolic Address, PLC Comment, etc. are automatically updated on both symbols. However, in order for this to work, the text node on the master element must be linked to the text node on the slave element.
Assignment of the text nodes is made in Database Editor mode, using the Edit -> Order Definition -> Text Assignment (toolbar button ) command.
Links between text nodes on the Master and Slave symbol are indicated by dotted lines.
The display of these lines is controlled by Tools -> Settings -> Database Editor -> Display. Selecting the Between assigned reference texts and symbols and/or pin texts check box turns the display on and off.
On the same dialog you can control the display of lines indicating the link between pins on the component's schematic symbols and pins on the component's model. Selecting the check box Between assigned schematic and model pins turns the lines on and off.
Note that the lines only appear between a selected symbol and the corresponding symbol(s) when a symbol is selected.
The following rules apply:
-
the text node on the master must have the same text type as the one on the slave,
-
the text type must have been assigned to a corresponding pin attribute
-
the text node on the slave must be connected to a pin.
In Project mode, if one of the text nodes or the attribute is modified, both text nodes are changed.
Note that the text nodes of the master are no longer displayed in the Component Properties dialog box, but only as pin attributes on the related pins in the Pins tab.
