Navigating in Hierarchies
Navigating in Hierarchical Levels
To jump into a hierarchical block or, for example, to change from the subordinate hierarchical sheets to the block circuit diagram, the following options are available in the context menu:
-
Into hierarchy
-
Into hierarchy in a new window
-
Out of hierarchy
-
Out of hierarchy in a new window
The Sheet tree view is also available for navigating through the hierarchical levels.
Navigating between Hierarchical Port Interfaces
With the Jump to schematic command in the context menu of the hierarchical port, the user can easily navigate between the port symbols on the hierarchical block and the hierarchical sheet.
The zoom area will be modified so that the specified navigation destination is displayed in the cross-reference text. A surrounding rectangle marks the coordinate, on which the reference symbol is placed.
Creating New Sheets in the Hierarchy
If the Into hierarchy or Into hierarchy in new window command is selected from the context menu on a hierarchical block that contains no sheet so far, a new sheet (panel and formboard sheets are also possible) will automatically be created with the next consecutive designation for this hierarchical block.
To create additional sheets within this hierarchy, select the Sort sheets hierarchically option of the Tree Control Properties - Sorting first and then the corresponding hierarchical block from the Sheet tree view and select the New Sheet... command in the context menu.
Note
Sheets within a hierarchy are now displayed in the E3.series project tree with their own symbol.
To distinguish these hierarchical sheets, a red triangle appears in the upper right corner:
