Liebherr-Mischtechnik enhances E3.series with full-service component database hosting and saves time in development

Liebherr-Mischtechnik GmbH develops innovative mixing equipment for the production, transport and use of concrete on construction sites. At its plant in Bad Schussenried in southern Germany, Liebherr-Mischtechnik operates its own test engineering center with a concrete laboratory, where all processes and machines are thoroughly tested and examined. With this method, Liebherr-Mischtechnik is a pioneer in the field of concrete technology.
For the development of its mobile and stationary equipment, the company uses E3.series from Zuken. The implementation of E3.series was enhanced with the comprehensive database service from ECAD-Port GmbH about a year ago.

Upgrading to the intelligent database service from ECAD-Port

Before implementing the database service, the ECAD department worked with logical schematics without intelligence or a database. Design data was scattered across multiple schematics, making it difficult to manage the complexity of custom mixing equipment development.

“Thanks to the new ECAD database service, we now have absolutely clean master schematics that are under strict revision control. A master schematic exists for a device type that is applied to a customer system. We have concentrated our expertise and know-how in a single document,” says Mario Gaissmaier, electrical design engineer at Liebherr-Mischtechnik GmbH.

All cross-functional activities, such as PLC assignment, cable lists, and cabinet layout, are integrated into a master schematic. The product data of each customer-specific development project is thus consolidated in a central E3.series document. This significantly reduces complexity and ensures document quality for periods of 20 years and more.

Collaborative solution development with rapid updates

The engineering team at Liebherr-Mischtechnik particularly appreciates the efficient, personal and highly flexible cooperation with the database service provider ECAD-PORT. The support, with its competence not only in ECAD, but also with its practical expertise in electrical and mechanical engineering, is able to lead discussions with product development on eye level and thus contribute to solution proposals and implementation in E3.series.

In a recent development project, a 3D prototype of an electrical cabinet layout was created for the first time. Design issues that surfaced could be discussed in a quick web meeting with ECAD-Port’s customer support and resolved with a promptly delivered update of the component data. By finding and fixing the error so quickly, significant time was saved in prototype development.

“ECAD-Port GmbH has found a niche in the market. They convince with quality and performance at an absolutely justified price-performance ratio. There is no competition at this level,” says Mario Gaissmaier about the cooperation.
