Attribute 'Default View Number (.PREFERRED_VIEW)'
When components are placed on a sheet, that has the Default View Number (.PREFERRED_VIEW) attribute assigned, from the database or the Device tree, the system checks whether a view has been assigned to the sheet. When then placing connectors, components or block symbols from the database or Device tree to such sheets, these objects are initially generated in the corresponding view.
Also when assigning connector symbols to components, this attribute has the same effect. The user must not explicitly enter a view number together with the item designations, but the view number (if existing) is automatically taken from the sheet, on which the symbol is placed.
This attribute represents a predefinition to generate components in a preferred view. When the attribute is modified, this change doesn't have any effect to already placed components or views on the affected sheet.
Usage of the Default View Number can be controlled using the Use Default View Number option in Tools -> Settings -> Placement -> Import -> Device and/or File -> Import -> Drawing -> Options.
The Default View Number (.PREFERRED_VIEW) attribute is considered with the following actions:
-
When placing a symbol from the Device or Database tree
-
>i.e. also for (normal) components containing views defined in the database, and this is independent from the Setting.
-
-
When copying/pasting on a sheet (dependent on the Setting).
-
When importing a subcircuit (dependent on the Setting).
-
When copying/pasting and importing, this can be defined for components (i.e. connector, symbol, etc.) that do not already have predefined views assigned in the database using the corresponding option.
