Formboard Functionality - Overview

This functionality is only available, when a E3.formboard license is present!

In order to manufacture a cable harness, a manufacturer requires a 'model'. This model is called a 'formboard'. A formboard is the 1:1 representation of a cable harness and serves as working base for manufacturers.

A formboard is generated from a cable plan either directly by the supplier / producer of the cable harness, or when manufacturing. This unmeasured drawing of the cable harness is provided by the development department.

A formboard’s base is a wooden or steel plate. All elements belonging to the cable harness, such as connectors, are placed on this plate.

These elements are then connected using manufactured cables or single wires. The routing is dependent on tables and lines that are drawn on the formboard. When all cables are routed and connected, the individual cables on same segments are bound to lines.

When working with E3.formboard, several aspects need to be taken into consideration. The following chapters contain detailed descriptions regarding formboard functionality.
