Use of Cavity Parts in Project

Settings for Cavity Parts

For automatically determining or filtering cavity parts as e.g. connector pin terminals, cavity plugs and wire seals in project, specific options and filters must be set underConnection - Conductors/Wires:

Both check boxes must be activated to ensure the functionality:

þ Use physical data of cavity part models instead of device model

þ Use physical data of conductor to select connector pin terminal and wire seal

Optionally, a filter attribute can be defined in the field Additional filter attribute for connector pin terminals: or Additional filter attribute for wire seals.

Furthermore, a default value for the additional filter attribute can be defined in the list Default value for filter attribute.

Use of Connector Pin Terminals in Project

When the conductor/wire to be sealed is connected to the pin, the wire seal for the device can be selected under Device Properties - Connector Pin Terminals.

This is executed in the new column Wire Seal:

Note

When the check box in the column Disable automatic selection is deactivated, the valid wire seal is used automatically.

The current wire seal is displayed in the Connection Properties - Wire Information for each wire within the selected connection path.

This is executed in the new columns Wire seal 1 and Wire seal 2:

Use of Wire Seals in Project

To use the functionality 'Wire Seal' in relation to the connector pin terminal selection on the device, the check box þSealed must be activated (appearing under Device Properties - Device)

Note

The check box Sealed can also be predefined for components within the database editor.

Note

  • When evaluating a cable (by use of the command Tools -> Reports -> Sheet -> Cables in the main menu), the two symbols A3-Cable and SYM-Cable must be updated in existing projects. The updated symbols additionally contain the columns Wire seal 1 and Wire seal 2.

  • The symbols A3-Cable and SYM-Cable must be saved the own database.

  • When evaluating a cable (by use of the command Tools -> Reports -> Access -> Cables in the main menu) in the supplied Access database listings.mdb, the following new columns are integrated:

    • WiresealFrom

    • WiresealTo

Use of Cavity Plugs in Project

When no conductor/wire is connected to the pin, a cavity plug can be assigned automatically. For this, a cavity plug must be directly defined or be defined in a cavity part group for the attribute Valid cavity part on the device.

In this case, the cavity plug can be selected for the device under Device Properties - Connector Pin Terminals

This is executed in the new column Connector Pin Terminal:

Note

When the check box in the column Disable automatic selection is deactivated, the valid cavity plug is used automatically.
