MIL Standard - Overview
Especially in the aviation industry, the military sector and in the automobile industry, etc., connectors, rather than being depicted as single male/female connector pin symbols, are shown as a complete connector.
Therefore, E3. provides a functionality to enable such connector display. The individual connector pins are represented by individual pin symbols, that are combined to give the complete connector representation.
Depending on a connector pin's position within the connector, the pin is represented by the appropriate symbol. Two connector types can be differentiated: Plug (mobile part) and Receptacle (fix part). This can be defined for symbols of the type "connector" or "block connector" by the view option. By assigning characteristics, a symbol is qualified for a special position within the connector.
The dynamic adaption of the connector symbols dependent on their placement/position, characterises this functionality.
Remarks
For working with MIL connector symbols, a special license is required. Activation is done by default, when the license is available and can be suppressed using the command line parameter /nomilstandard.
The "MIL Standard" topic contains several aspects that need to be taken into consideration. The following chapters contain detailed descriptions regarding this functionality.
