Schematic Design
Schematic Capture
The CADSTAR design environment's schematic capture front end, which complements the CADSTAR PCB design editor, provides a smooth and error-free transition between Schematics and PCB using a binary transfer mechanism. Engineering change orders (ECOs) are transferred in the same way, using the schematic design as the reference. Constraints-driven technology produces obeying constraints set early in the design process. This concept of establishing parameters is a proven, successful technology used in the verification and timing areas of Zuken's high end solutions.
- Constraints-driven technology, in order to produce complex PCB designs by defining, manipulating and obeying constraints early in the design process
- Meet time and quality standards
- Error-free transfer to PCB
- Up front PCB design constraint rules
- Cross probing between applications
- Engineering change orders (ECOs) are transferred using the schematic design as the reference
- Version control to determine whether the parts, components, and symbols are the latest version available from the components library; also ensures integration into the supply chain
- Design reuse allows re-use of proven and tested logical circuits from an earlier design
-
Typical examples where design re-use is suitable include:
- Power supplies
- RF designs
- Multichannel designs (I/O, drivers etc.)
- Via fan-out and decoupling structure on BGA designs
SPICE Simulation
iSIM (PSpice) interface
- Interface to PSpice Smoke Analysis
- Handling of digital parts with separate power symbol
- Handling of analog parts with separate power symbol
- Handling of parts with multiple different symbols
- Handling of Asics. These components contain several different types of parts, each using different simulation model
- A new library: spimagnetic, which contains magnetic cores.

TopSPICE
With the Top Spice module you can verify and optimize your design from the system to the transistor level. The TopSPICE simulation engine includes a native mixed-mode, mixed-signal simulator for circuits with any combination of analog and digital functions.
- Allows you to simulate schematics exactly with information that can be passed direct into PCB layout
- Allows you to run any number of tests
Allows you to work within a single design environment - Allows you to manually create SPICE arguments and create models or sub-circuits directly
- Allows you to simulate digital sections of your circuit instead of analog equivalents using the built-in logic simulator, reducing mixed-mode simulation times significantly
- Provides fast access to the simulation parameters for each component using the Parts Properties Editor, allowing small changes and ‘what if’ tuning to be carried out quickly and easily.

B2 Spice Professional CS
CADSTAR Schematics can be verified and optimized with B2 Spice Professional simulation prior to the physical prototype. You can simply select "Connect to CADSTAR" from the B2 Spice File menu to simulate the circuit that you are working on. The CADSTAR library will (once mapped) retain the component association of B2Spice.
- Analog digital and mixed-mode simulation
Virtual instruments - Monte Carlo and multiple parameter sweeps
- 12 powerful tests, circuit wizards
- Real-time parameter modifications
Cross probing, 25,000 device library.
