CADSTAR 11 - Feature Matrix

This overview shows you a small selection of all Key Enhancements in CADSTAR 11.0.

For the full details go to the "What's new in CADSTAR 11.0" documentation.

Function Description & Benefit

Multiple-gate support in the Symbol Creation Wizard

Create multiple schematic symbols via one wizard, and import the data defined into the Library Editor to automate the part definition process. This provides essential tools for dealing with high pin-count devices such as FPGAs.

Signal Reference Links

Browse easily and quickly through multi-sheet and hierarchical schematic designs. Use the links to view and ‘jump’ to other signal references on the same net. Zone information may be included in the signal references to make location easy and logical.

Dragon Routing Platform (Additional cost option)

A completely new, revolutionary routing environment, developed as part of the P.R.Editor application.

Support for 'Slotted' (oval) holes

Define slotted drill holes in your design data in the same way as circular drill holes. Holes may be offset within a pad and have their own, separate rotation defined for maximum flexibility. Makes use of the standard G85 command in NC drill format outputs.

Highlight Not-Fitted Variant Items

Highlight components, connections and their associated attributes that are not part of the current design variant. Decide whether to include or hide these items completely when printing

Enhanced Library Searcher

Find components in your library quickly and easily using multiple search filters. Use multiple search keys (with 'wildcard' characters) and create flexible searches using logical operators (e.g. 'and', 'or') to target required results.

Output to PDF

Export a design or print to a PDF file using CADSTAR's native output capability (no need for a separate 'printer driver' output). The output also allows component attributes to be included in the PDF file.

Suppress Inner Layer Pads

Increase available routing space on inner layers (signal and power-plane layers) by suppressing unused pads. This also provides greater control of the copper on inner layers, providing more reliable EMC and signal integrity performance.

Routing Setup dialog

A new single-tabbed dialog provides for intuitive setting of all the options needed to control and configure the interactive and automatic routers.

Fan-out tools enhancements

Make use of additional parameters for using Fan-outs in the design, such as length and use of fixed Fan-outs, minimum spacing rules between Fan-outs and preferred Spiral Via setting.

Tidy Connections

Connections which have been fully routed by an alternate path can now be hidden.

Hide Connected Pins and Highlight Unconnected Pins

Benefit from greater clarity and ease of use during Schematic design. Pins may be hidden once they have been connected to and unconnected pins can be highlighted with a fixed-size (zoom independent) marker to make circuit connectivity immediately obvious and easy to see.

Gate and Pin swap of Routed Connections

Gate and pin swaps on pins attached to routed connections are now supported. The last route segment is un-routed first, to allow the swap to take place.
