E³.series 2009 boosts Variants and Option functionality to speed up complex product design

26 March 2009, Westford MA, and Munich, Germany, Zuken announces a significant advancement in variation and option management within the 2009 version of E³.series. Historically for each variant or option users had to work with multiple on screen product drawings containing the different variants required, resulting in major design headaches for new product development, particularly in applications in sectors like the automotive industry. The new functionality within E³.schematic removes the need for sets of different drawings for each configuration of a product – so there is no need to copy endless sheets, a user simply outputs an option tree.

This level of functionality for complex option management is a ground breaking first and brings numerous benefits, including reduced data management as there are far fewer drawing iterations and thus fewer documents to manage, find and remember.

This advancement supports names for complex Boolean expressions. The more complex the variants and where multiple BOMs are required this sophisticated product innovation becomes an essential piece of design kit saving valuable time by avoiding extensive redrawing.

About E³.series:

E³.series is Zuken’s Windows-based modular, scalable and intuitive system for the engineering of electrotechnical, pneumatics and hydraulics applications; electronic components cabling and wiring harnesses. The sharing of a singular core object-orientated architecture that supports the entire engineering flow from concept creation through to manufacturing eliminates the need for data transfer between the different modules. This reduces errors, increases quality and allows engineering changes to be completed much more efficiently. E³.series can also be smoothly integrated with existing applications and processes through standard and customizable, bi-directional programmable interfaces.
