Zuken Unleashes the Power of the Dragon
May 21, 2008 - Munich, Germany and Westford, MA, USA - Taking the stress out of routing, Zuken introduces a brand new intelligent autorouting solution that puts power into the hands of the designer - the Dragon Routing Platform. This moves away from clumsy ‘settings’ based autorouting to a new standard for the future that combines intelligence and a methodology driven approach. This comes in the form of the Routing Strategy Environment (RSE) that applies all the knowledge required for the latest high-speed boards with a guided step-by-step process to deliver right-first-time results in shorter time frames. The easy set-up and control of all the routing tools, unleashes the power of the Dragon to general PCB designers, simplifying and de-mystifying the process of advanced routing.
During development, the new Dragon Routing Platform was evaluated by some of Zuken's key customers for testing and verifcation against real design challenges. During the evaluation, Mr. Huckemann, from Siemens A&D, Erlangen stated: "This is a big step forward to bring autorouting technology into the hands of high-speed PCB designers. It is easy to set up and straight forward to use."
The Routing Strategy Environment (RSE) uses a Routing Consultant to guide users thought the process. The initial stages begin by working with the user to define the strategy, which later empowers the user to easily and effectively create a board that is right-first-time.
To make this process slicker, along the way the Routing Consultant will analyse designs for potential routing problems and suggest alternative routing strategies to overcome them, specifically performing automatic expert checks and making suggestions on appropriate actions to fix potential problems. At any point in time the Dragon Router can be called upon to analyze any current strategy and suggest changes or an entirely new strategy, to deliver higher quality results in less time.
In addition to implementing this strategic way of routing, the Dragon Routing Platform takes advantage of even more intelligence to meet the demands of the most advanced high-speed boards. Sophisticated routing algorithms for specific routing tasks such as fan-out generation, 45-degree single net routing and differential pair routing are all incorporated.
The Dragon Router is available in the next version of CR-5000 Lightning, Zuken’s high-speed module for enterprise-wide design, due for release in the summer of 2008.
