Specialized Vehicles
Achieving quality and keeping down costs in an industry dominated by customization can make it a challenge to deliver a vehicle at a price that the end user is willing to except. As with all vehicle based design, platform approaches and design re-use are critical, in the same vein so is the requirement to be flexible.
It is no longer financially viable to retain exact replicas of part of a vehicle in stock, should a future fault occur. The days of keeping a duplicate wire harness in the stores as a replacement part will soon be gone. With the introduction of increased design data reliability in the form of electronic data files, an exact replica can be produced tens of years down the line.
