IDF Interface
For improved collaboration with MCAD systems, CADSTAR supports an integrated, bi-directional interface for IDF. The IDF interface allows the exchange of board outlines, component placement, keep-out areas, and holes (plated and non-plated) to allow accurate exchange of physical details with mechanical design.
The IDF interface supports IDF 2.0 and 3.0, with wizards to create mapping files of import/export settings and layer definitions. The mapping files help simplify the exchange process and maintain consistency for each file transfer between MCAD and ECAD. With the IDF interface, you can reduce the number of unnecessary iterations during the design cycle and enable a co-design flow between mechanical and electrical design.
