What’s New in E³.series 2010

E³.series 2010: Variant & option configurations can be applied in multiple projects
E³.series 2010 delivers powerful new and enhanced features across the entire product line to help you streamline your design process. In addition to the features highlighted below, additional information is available in the product release notes.
-
Variant & Option Enhancements
Variant & option configurations can be saved and applied in multiple projects, and can be activated using Boolean expressions. Active variants & options can be viewed with inactive variants & options greyed -out or invisible, making each configuration clearly visible.
-
Bulk Data Management
Quickly and easily modify bulk data in a table format for automatically updating sheets, connections, pins and devices for significant time savings on large projects. These tables can also be exported to create custom reports.
-
Group Sub-Circuits and Update Groups in Projects
Sub-circuits, parts of a sheet, one or multiple sheets can be grouped together and updated as a project group. This makes it possible to update or exchange parts of a drawing through just a few mouse clicks.
-
True 3D Part Definition with STEP
Users can now import 3D mechanical part data directly into the component library using the STEP format. This provides a true 3D representation of the part in E³.panel, eliminating the requirement to build the panel using a 3D mechanical tool. Parts are now shown in their true 3D shape and size within E³.panel. This can also be applied in E³.fluid for pneumatic and hydraulic parts in addition to electrical parts.
-
Display Multiple Connectors in One Symbol
A new document type “System Connectivity Overview” can be created that allows engineers to view a simplified version of the design that uses single connect lines to represent multiple wires, cables and overbraids. This simplifies the design view and reduces visual clutter.
-
Simpler Symbol Oriented Design
If a component is not present in the library, a component with only master material definition can be assigned to a symbol or a combination of symbols carrying the same device designation. This enables you to continue the design without being forced to halt progress to build the specific part required. You can then build the complete part at a later date.
-
E³.Formboard Automatic Cable Protection Definition
Cable protection material can now be placed automatically over several segments in E³.formboard. Using the “place on segment” command, the whole protection can be defined with a few clicks. This eliminates the need to add protection material to each segment individually.
-
Measurement Arrows for Measuring Multiple Segments
Measurement arrows can be used to measure multiple segments (e.g. 90°angled segments) or round segments with one arrow. This allows you to illustrate the total length of a cable or wire within the design view, rather than just each segment individually - this is particularly useful for wires and cables that have bends and curves.
-
Enhanced E³.3D Routing Bridge Module
The enhanced E³.3D Routing Bridge brings together all of the previous 3D integration modules including CATIA V5 Routing, I-DEAS, Inventor, Landmark Technology, NX Routing, Pro/E, Solid Edge and SolidWorks– in one single module.
