Zuken Extends Fluid Design to E³.WireWorks with 2010 Release

E³.WireWorks 2010 version now fully supports hydraulic and pneumatic design
SolidWorks-Compatible Software Package Includes Many Enhancements
June 23, 2010 – Munich, Germany and Westford, MA, USA – Zuken today announced the latest version of E³.WireWorks, the electrical and fluid engineering software package for SolidWorks users. The 2010 version now fully supports hydraulic and pneumatic design, allowing engineers to combine electrical and fluid designs in one project and produce a single BOM. There are also many time-saving enhancements which reduce design time through automation and fewer mouse clicks.
Yves-Michel Thibeault director of engineering at A. Landry Fabrication comments: "We’re a very young company using the latest technologies, processes, and management techniques. We’re not afraid of new ideas because we know innovation will keep us successful. And that’s what we get from SolidWorks and Zuken. I’ve been involved in harness design for a couple of years and have always dreamed of a process like this, and it’s paying off big time."
Integrated Fluid Design
In addition to the electrical engineering capabilities of E³.WireWorks, fluid design is now supported as well. With the fluid capabilities, electrical and fluid designs can be integrated through a combined design platform that has the flexibility to enable concurrent design between fluid and electrical engineers. The integration with the SolidWorks environment also means that users can pass fluid connectivity, pipe, and equipment data between E³.WireWorks and SolidWorks.
Efficiency and Enhanced Productivity
Design reuse, variants and options are now much easier as a result of new flexibility. Variant and option configurations can be saved and applied to multiple projects and activated by Boolean expressions. Variants and options can be viewed in a very user friendly way, by enabling users to make inactive options gray or invisible.
Making design changes to bulk data is simpler with a new table format that allows users to automatically update all instances of design parameters on sheets, connections, pins, and components. No longer do users have to go through each occurrence within the individual graphical views and perform manual updates – eliminating possible errors. To create custom reports, these tables can also be exported.
Updating and exchanging parts has also been streamlined to allow multiple instance updates with just a few mouse clicks by grouping together sub-circuits, parts of a sheet, one or multiple sheets as a project.
Simpler Symbol Oriented Design
When a component is not present in the library, a component with only master material definition can be assigned to a symbol, enabling the engineer to continue the design without halting progress to build the missing part. The part can be built and exchanged in the design at a later date.
E³.WireWorks 2010 will be available in July. For more information about the many additional enhancements in E³.WireWorks 2010, visit www.zuken.com/e3wireworks or contact your local E³.WireWorks representative.

About A. Landry
A. Landry Fabrication of New Brunswick, Canada, designed and manufactures the world’s first real "purpose built" track harvester – a machine that quickly fells, de-limbs, and sections timber. The LandrichTM, machine is a mid-size, limited tail-swing harvester which was optimized for the cut-to-length method of mechanized logging. The company says it offers loggers a unique configuration where sophisticated systems are combined to increase operator comfort, reduce fuel consumption, increase productivity, and offer easy access for maintenance.
About E³.WireWorks
E³.WireWorks is a Windows-based, modular, scalable and intuitive system for the design of wiring, harnesses, cables assemblies, and cabinet and panel layout. Its unique design approach stores circuit diagrams, cabinet and panel layouts, and nail board drawings in one multi-view project file. This keeps all drawings and the BOM automatically in sync, reducing errors, increasing quality and enabling engineering changes to be completed much more efficiently. Its close integration with SolidWorks Premium Routing passes netlist, cable, and component data between E³.WireWorks and SolidWorks. It also returns routed segment and wire length information from SolidWorks to E³.WireWorks for manufacturing documentation. SolidWorks Enterprise PDM integration enables data management, workflow, and lifecycle control.
