Zuken Launches Advanced Wire Harness Modeling and Simulation with Synopsys Saber

New Integration Module - E³.Saber Frameway
New Integration Module - E³.Saber Frameway
May 11, 2010 – Munich, Germany and Westford, MA, USA – Zuken has introduced a new integration tool E³.Saber Frameway for Zuken’s cable design software E³.cable. This allows engineers to create right-first-time robust wire harness, hydraulic and pneumatic designs, helping them overcome growing harness complexity and time/quality constraints through early access to virtual prototyping results.
The solution provides direct integration for the multi-domain simulation of cable and wire harnesses, hydraulic and pneumatic with the Synopsys’ Saber® Simulator. In addition to the benefits for engineers creating wire harness designs, the E³.Saber Frameway will also save time for simulation engineers by reducing duplicative efforts through the reuse of E³.series design data within the Saber environment by eliminating the need to re-enter data into the simulation environment.
"This integrated technology offers a great opportunity for our customers who use both the Saber and E³.series design environments to improve both productivity and quality. Together we offer a powerful state-of-the-art solution for mechatronics design," commented Paul Lo, senior vice president and general manager of Analog/Mixed-Signal Group at Synopsys.
"For complex time-constrained product development, simulation is required from the very beginning to allow specifications to be validated prior to formal product development. The efficient handling of complex simulation tasks requires the integration of a powerful simulator into the wiring harnesses design tool – this is why we have introduced E³.Saber Frameway," said Gerhard Lipski, CEO Zuken USA and general manager Zuken Europe.
By making an interconnection with E³.series, simulation engineers using the Saber solution can perform accurate system-wide electrical verification. This saves time by eliminating the need to redraw schematics within the Saber environment for simulation.
Time spent and the potential for errors is reduced as E³.Saber Frameway helps eliminate the need to send design updates manually from the simulation engineer back to the design engineer. For simulation purpose all engineers use E³.series library data as one common database. This eliminates errors and reduces administration effort.
Any changes the simulation engineer makes to the design are immediately part of the production design. Simulation results such as voltage and current values can be back-annotated into E³.series.

About E³.series:
E³.series is Zuken’s Windows-based modular, scalable and intuitive system for the engineering of electrotechnical, pneumatics and hydraulics applications; electronic components cabling and wiring harnesses. The sharing of a singular core object-orientated architecture that supports the entire engineering flow from concept creation through to manufacturing eliminates the need for data transfer between the different modules. This reduces errors, increases quality and allows engineering changes to be completed much more efficiently. E³.series can also be smoothly integrated with existing applications and processes through standard and customizable, bi-directional programmable interfaces.
